Privacy Policy

Screenyx Browser Extension — Last updated: June 6, 2026

      TL;DR: Screenyx works 100% locally on your device. No data is collected, transmitted, or shared with anyone. Your screenshots never leave your browser.
    

1. Data Collection

Screenyx does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Specifically:

No analytics or tracking scripts
No cookies or fingerprinting
No user accounts or registration
No external network requests
No telemetry of any kind

2. Screenshot Storage

All screenshots are stored locally on your device. Single captures are saved in your browser's IndexedDB, and full Site Capture sessions (including their thumbnails and metadata) are saved in Chrome's chrome.storage.local. Nothing is ever uploaded to any server. You can delete all stored screenshots and sessions at any time through the History page.

Settings are stored locally using Chrome's chrome.storage.sync API, which syncs preferences across your signed-in Chrome browsers. No third party can access this data.

3. Permissions Explained

Screenyx requests the following browser permissions, each for a specific technical reason:

activeTab — Capture the currently visible tab when you click a capture button
scripting — Inject the selection overlay and scroll-stitch logic for full-page captures
tabs — Read the page title and URL to label your screenshots in history
clipboardWrite — Copy screenshots directly to your clipboard
storage / unlimitedStorage — Save screenshots locally in IndexedDB and sync settings
offscreen — Write to clipboard from the background when the popup is closed
notifications — Show a notification when capturing on restricted browser pages
host_permissions (<all_urls>) — Required for full-page scroll capture and Site Capture on any website. Without this, the extension cannot capture pages opened programmatically.

4. Site Capture

The Site Capture feature discovers same-origin links on the current page and opens them one at a time to take full-page screenshots. All link discovery and capture happens locally in your browser. No data about discovered URLs or captured pages is sent anywhere.

5. Third-Party Libraries

Screenyx bundles JSZip (MIT license) for ZIP file generation and jsPDF (MIT license) for PDF export. Both run entirely in-browser and make no network requests.

6. Children's Privacy

Screenyx does not collect data from anyone, including children under 13.

7. Changes to This Policy

If this policy is updated, the changes will be published with the next extension update. The "Last updated" date above will be revised accordingly.
